What is a betting bankroll?
A bankroll is money set aside specifically for betting. It should be separate from rent, food, transport, school fees, medical costs, savings and other essential obligations.
Use a small stake relative to the bankroll
Risking a large percentage of your available bankroll on one match makes it easier for a short losing run to wipe out the entire amount. Smaller, consistent stakes reduce that volatility.
Do not increase stakes to recover a loss
Chasing losses is one of the fastest ways to lose control. A previous result does not make the next bet more likely to win. If you feel an urge to immediately win money back, stop and take a break.
Keep a simple record
Record date, market, odds, stake and result. Review the total amount staked and the net result rather than remembering only the biggest wins.
Set stop rules
You can decide in advance how much you are willing to lose in a day or week and stop once that limit is reached. A time limit can also prevent betting from taking over other activities.
No staking system removes risk
Martingale-style systems and aggressive progression plans can create very large stakes after a losing sequence. There is no staking method that turns uncertain football results into guaranteed income.
